NEW @u2 LANOIS: 'ONE OF THE GREAT, INNOVATIVE U2 RECORDS' June 06, 2008 posted by: m2
Daniel Lanois showed up on Dave Fanning's RTE Radio show Wednesday night, and Fanning made sure to slip in a couple questions about the U2 album progress. I'll put Lanois' comments in quotes, and paraphrase Fanning's questions in italics:
"We're on the home stretch. We're gonna deliver in about three weeks or a month, and then hopefully they'll have that record out in the fall. It's going great."
Are you telling me that all the tracks are done, more or less?
"Yeah, yeah, yeah - it's all done and we're just finishing the vocals. Bono's in great form, singing fantastic. Everybody's in high spirits."
Is it anything like the previous stuff?
"I think we can safely say it's one of the great, innovative records from U2."
You can listen online here. The U2 content is at the 26:00 mark, and is very brief. (Thx to Steve W. for the tip.)

10.06.2008 That New Record Paul McGuinness has been talking to BBC's 6 Music about the new record - and when it might arrive.
The exact release date, he said, was "not clear yet but I would think towards the end of October".
"We will obviously work with whatever technology is available to make the release of the new record as interesting as possible," he added.
Listen in. (The story is at 2mins50)

Pobrano s strani atu2.com ALBUM, TOUR NEWS FROM DUBLIN June 08, 2008 posted by: m2 We're getting several emails tonight from U2.com regulars telling us about various threads in the Zootopia forums. Seems there's a lot of activity lately outside Hanover Quay, and fans are asking questions and getting information like this: The band has one week of work left on the album. Brian Eno told fans about a new song called "Moment of Surrender" and said it's "the best thing" he's recorded with U2. Sam O'Sullivan told fans the band is on a tight schedule because the album has to be ready for October. Tour will start in March and will visit North America and Europe. (no idea on source) So there you have it. Thx to our Zootopia friends (C, A, etc.) for sharing the news so we can share with our readers. Stvari se ocitno premikajo v pravo smer !

To so pomojem buče... Best thing sta itak Achtung Baby in Joshua Tree pri katerih je sodeloval.
Sam O'Sullivan told fans the band is on a tight schedule because the album has to be ready for October.

U2 Set Sale For a New Horizon Exclusive: New Studio Album & Tracklist Revealed Sunday Mirror, July 29, 2008 Stephen Maguire and Seamus Ross
It's the beautiful day millions of U2 fans around the globe have waited patiently to see for the past four years.
Now we can reveal details of the supergroup's long-awaited new album.
It is believed to be titled No Line On The Horizon and will be on sale in music stores on November 14.
The band's record company Universal has already registered the internet domain name nolineonthehorizon. com - prompting speculation this will be the new record.
And among the songs to be released on what many music insiders are calling the band's best work to date are Moment Of Surrender, For Your Love, Love Is All We Have Left and One Bird.
Others include If I Could Live My Life Again, The Cedars Of Lebanon and No Line On The Horizon.
Earlier this week a 19-strong film crew headed to the Spanish city of Cadiz to shoot a video for the band's first single from the new album although the band were not believed to be present.
Last night an insider said the U2 machine is gearing up for the release of one of the most keenly-awaited albums in recent years.
"The album is more or less all in the bag except for a few minor details," the source revealed. A lot of people have been waiting a long time for this album as they do with every U2 album.
"But the word coming out is that the band is very, very happy with the end product and when U2 are happy it should be quite a piece of work. They're not easy to please."
Legendary producer Steve Lillywhite, who has worked with U2 for more than two decades, said the new album had blown him away.
It is the first original work since the band released the smash-hit How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb in November 2004. It sold an incredible 10 million copies and picked up eight Grammy Awards. But music commentators think the new record could be even bigger for Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam.
U2 are also expected to announce details of a huge worldwide tour, which would almost certainly include a number of nights at the new O2 Arena in the Dublin Docklands - formerly known as the Point Theatre.
In a flurry of activity, the group have just re-released their first three albums - Boy, October and War - in extended formats and with previously unreleased tracks. It has led to that rare thing - U2 making a mistake.
A quantity of the re-released War albums have been printed with incorrect track listings inside a booklet.
But ironically, it won't hit sales, as the botched items are likely to become collector's pieces.

www.atu2blog.com/2008/07/27/what-a-nice-surprise/#comment-71727# Marc Kissinger said, July 28, 2008 @ 11:36 am I had to share this with one of the u2 sites. I had an extraordinary chance meeting with a very close friend of Bono’s on Saturday (26 July 2008) night in a bar in the outskirts of Dublin. He informed me that the album IS in fact going to be titled “No Line on the Horizon”. He also said that they have NO plans to perform in the newly renovated Point Depot and he added that the film crew in Cadiz are actually filming for a new i-pod commercial which Paul McGuinness has been instrumental in putting together with Steve Jobs over the past few months.

Nekdo je na plaži v Ezu slišal nekaj novih komadov
copy&pastan prevod iz francoščine v ang
ok... here goes... just translating what i see - i don't take any responsibility for opinions/accuracy of content/titles/information therein blah blah disclaimer lmfao
Poster’s first post: “Blimey! Well i don’t know about the album but the single pretty much blows your head off! They cranked up the cd at 10.30pm for The Edge’s bday in Eze, followed by fireworks over the water. Those who want rock (without clochettes ??) [translator’s note: “little bells”?? not sure i’m missing something here?? but havent got time to check properly] will love this song, a mixture of vertigo in terms of rhythm and Lady with the spinning head in terms of main guitar sound (with a hint of Acrobat). i'm not saying it sounds exactly like all that, but it's just the vibe. Just listened once but it's looking good!”
in response to question re. innovation: “I can’t really say if it’s innovative, I’m not so sure, but it was only the single.”
another post by same poster: “4th listening... title... Sexy Boots, which Bono keeps saying over and over.”
another post by same poster: “another song now, the one with Surrender i think in the title. Superb ballad. Really! A bolt from the blue/bombshell [translator's note: poster says “une bombe” but i havent got time to think too hard or check properly so sorry if my translation doesnt make sense!]! Quite innovative. Sorry i havent got a recording device.”
another post by same poster: “4 songs, and not a hint of clochettes [translator's note: these d**n “little bells” again...?]. But good guitar parts just how we love them.”
another post by same poster: “And a 5th song! "if i don't go crazy" in the lyrics. I think the title might be the one with "change of heart".”
same poster again: “heard 7 tracks and quick snippets from 2 others tonight. Moment of surrender starts like Stuck but ends 1000 times better. .... The tracks we heard really sound good.”
last post: “will come back to this point when i’ve got more time. But re. “innovation”, i wanted to say what we heard wasnt over-revolutionary but there were new sounds for a U2 album...”

še en bolj urejen post ... tole se sliši obetavno
MORE COMMENTS, I have translated them (I am native French speaker so you can trust it
I've been reading the whole thread over at U2achtung, and what happened is that 3 people were on the Eze beach last night and they were posting impressions as it went from their cell phones, but no one had any recording devices. Actually a few people from the forum seem to have heard songs on the Eze beach in the past week or so, I really don't think this is bullnuts. Their impressions seemed to be really good. After the first guy posted in response to someone's question about 'innovation', saying that it was not necessarily revolutionary, another poster started complaining that all the stuff about the album being innovative was bullnuts etc, then the main guy who heard the songs ('fredo') came back and said he was quite impressed with the songs and there is no reason to worry, especially before having heard anything.
Then another poster who also heard the songs said the following:
'Really too good what we had the luck of hearing tonight, the album is looking really good! Hard to describe because I am on my mobile. But really (to the person who was complaining) wait until you hear it before reacting like that because tonight 4 fans had an amazing time! Personally I was hooked by every song I heard!'
Then 'fredo' came back and said this:
'More details on the evening: Since we had only heard a few recording sessions and seeing that The Edge's birthday party was being organised at Bono's house (decorated Mexican Hacienda style), we thought this was a good time to have a chance to hear something more 'complete'. So we decided to do a little pic-nic on the beach
Around 10:30pm, there was only 4 of us on the beach, and all of a sudden the music started blasting out and we recognised right away the 'U2 touch', a mix of familiar sounds ('Pop' for the bass, 'Vertigo' for Bono's signing/pronounciation, Lady with the Spinning Head for the guitar, etc.) We could hear perfectly well, the sea was calm, the crickets were not singning and the sound was very clear.
At the end of the song there was a firework from a small boat on the water. The Edge came on the patio (wearing a sombrero) with Morleigh. At the end of the firework, we couldn't help but to sing him Happy Birthday, and he thanked us. Then nothing for a little while.
Then the music started blasting again, the same song. We noted that 'Sexy Boots' comes back a lot in the lyrics. We heard it 5 times during the evening. I can't really describe it precisely. All I can say is that it's a mix of traditional rock with quite a modern sound.
We heard Moment of Surrender (I am guessing it is that one because the word surrender comes back a few times). We heard it twice. Like I said it starts a little bit like Stuck but less cheasy/poppy. But the end of this song is truly magnificent with long, beautiful guitar parts.
We also heard 5 other songs, one time each. Hard to remember all of it, the only thing I can recall is that there were keyboard and synth sounds that I have never heard from U2, and one song starts with a slightly african sounding rythm. Actually I remember from time to time Larry's playing was quite at the forefront.
So of course, it seems like U2's new album might not create a revolution in rock history. But they seem to have moved away from what they had been doing since 2000.
Another thing is there was lots of guitars in what we heard, and that without being radically different (you have to keep the U2 style) there is a freshness in the songwriting. The sound of the songs is quite stripped down and it is not overproduced like HTDAAB. The sound is more 'rough'.
But us, out little priviledged group, only heard 7 songs and 2 short bits of other songs. Only U2 knows what the album will really be like...'
Someone asked if what they heard sounded like the Beach Clips 2006, and the answer was:
'It had nothing to do with what we heard from the Beach Clips'
Also, he couldn't record anything because his cell phone battery was dying. But it seems like a few people from the U2achtung forum are planning to hang out at the beach so we might get something soon...
